Though I could have clarified better, my critique isn't so much towards economists (who, as you rightfully point out, have been using a diversity of approaches for a long time) but of the 'economic thinking' of those that misunderstood the limitations of the neoclassical model and nonetheless applied it to policy frameworks. I'd like to see the systems approach find its way into popular economic thought. We're seeing progress on this front, but at least in the US, there is a long way to go. Our hope is that LEP can bring the work of these economists to a broader audience and promote that shift.
